MICHAEL T. WALSH

California Estate Planning Attorney

Michael T. Walsh has practiced law in the area of estate planning for over two decades. Mr. Walsh has been designated as a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. In addition to his expertise in estate planning, Mr. Walsh also has vast experience in business planning, asset protection planning and drafting pre and post-marital agreements.

Mr. Walsh is an active member of the California State Bar and holds memberships in the Orange County and Los Angeles County Bar Associations. Additionally, he is licensed to practice before the United States District Court and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Walsh is also licensed to practice law in the State of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Walsh received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School where he was awarded the W. Foster Reeves, III Award for outstanding work in the area of trusts. He also earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the Wharton Graduate School of Business. Prior to graduate school, Mr. Walsh obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Mr. Walsh also earned his Chartered Life Underwriter designation (estate planning with life insurance) from the American College in Pennsylvania.

Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Walsh was an estate planning attorney with the law firm of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads in Philadelphia. Mr. Walsh has also worked as a tax specialist at Coopers & Lybrand (currently known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and as a director of Advanced Underwriting (estate planning) for The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company in Philadelphia, providing advanced estate planning advice nationally. Thereafter he spent several years as a lecturer in business insurance and estate planning at the Wharton Graduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Since then Mr. Walsh has been a frequent lecturer in the area of estate and charitable planning and has authored a number of articles in the area of advanced strategies and techniques in estate, gift and charitable planning.
Over the years Mr. Walsh has served as a director and president of a large homeowners association, a director of the Saddleback Health Foundation in Laguna Woods, run for City Council in Laguna Niguel, served on the Environmental Review Board for that city, and is still an active member and a past director of the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Walsh is currently one of the founding directors and sits on the board of directors for The Orange Catholic Foundation.
